# Two-year post-doctoral position at Sorbonne Université, Paris,
France

A 24-month postdoc position is available at Sorbonne Université
(Paris, France) in the Applied Mathematics and Computer Science
Labs (LJLL and LIP6), starting in September 2021
(or before at desired date if needed).

This position is mentored by Emmanuel Trélat
and Mohab Safey El Din.

## Main fields covered

Topics which will be tackled by the post-doc fellow cover
computational aspects of optimal control theory, computer algebra
and polynomial system solving.
The applicant will combine and develop methods from optimal
control theory with algebraic methods for polynomial system
solving.

We target to revisit algorithms for computing solutions to optimal
control problems by strengthening the current numerical methods
through algebraic, combinatorial and semi-numerical techniques.

We aim at obtaining proof-of-concept implementations which can
then be used to solve applications (e.g., for motion planning).

## Requirements and application

**Application deadline:** not later than May 1st 2021.

PhD in less than 6 years on topics related to optimal control
theory or symbolic computation/computer algebra or polynomial
system solving.

Skills and taste for computing and problem solving are welcome.

English speaking is mandatory.
