New developments on calculus in metric measure spaces and applications to spaces with Ricci bounds from below

ABSTRACT : I will review recent developments of calculus in metric measure spaces, describing the circle of ideas which led recently to the unification of ``Eulerian’’ and ``Lagrangian’’ viewpoints in the development of the theory. I will then illustrate how these ideas can be applied to put in very close connection the Bakry-Emery theory of Ricci lower bounds, based on the so-called Gamma-calculus, with the Lott-Sturm-Villani theory, based on optimal transport.
