 The Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions (LJLL) of the top university University Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France, announces an assistant professor position with a chair supplement, with starting date September 1, 2012.

The LJLL Nouvelle fenêtre is one of the largest departments in applied mathematics worldwide, specialized in the areas of mathematical modeling, analysis of PDE, numerical analysis and simulation based on efficient approximations and on high performance architectures.

The department is involved in ambitious collaborative research projects in areas which include in particular life sciences, quantum chemistry, complex fluid flows and information theory.

With this appointment, the LJLL intends to strengthen its expertise in scientific computing. The successful candidate is expected to have a PhD in mathematics and additional postdoctoral experience, establishing international recognition in this area of investigation.

Each of first 5 years of this permanent position includes a net salary between 35Keuros and 40Keuros (depending on the curriculum of the applicant), a teaching load of 1/3 of the standard one in french universities (64 hours/year in place of 192 hours) and a yearly funding of 10Keuros to develop research projects.

Eligibility : the applicant must either be "qualified" by the french Conseil National des Universités (CNU), or already be an assistant or associate professor at a university.
