Domain decomposition methods on parallel architectures - Pierre Jolivet

Domain decomposition methods are one of the dominant paradigms in contemporary large-scale numerical simulation on modern computer architectures such as massively parallel distributed memory multiprocessor clusters. In this talk, I will introduce various aspects of domain decomposition methods necessary to understand how can one solve efficiently large linear systems arising from the finite element method and assess the performance of the numerical methods and their implementation. I will then look into different tests cases carried on Curie, the largest French supercomputer (theoretical peak performance : 2 PFLOPS) which has been opened for scientists since March 2012.
